Architecture Preview: Sweden

Turning Torso, Sweden

Santiago Calatrava started building this architecture on February 14, 2001 in Malmo, Sweden. This is a residential place only open to the public briefly in the summer. There is no information on how much this cost to make. Turning Torso was made because the local politicians wanted a decaying areas of an urban renewal. I choose this building because it kind of reminds me of the leaning tower and i thought it was inspired by that. I think that its very unique in in the place located. It gives off 2030 technology vibes, which is different from what we are used to see.

Sensory Overload Warm-Up

1) I agree with what he said, I think that we should invest our money in stuff we use daily and will always keep buying. It makes me think in a way that affects my feeling, which is that when shooting or when going somewhere new, it makes you think different. Whenever I shoot something, I take myself out of a normal perspective and think of many, many ways of how one photo topic can go.

2) Personally, no it didn't want to visit here because the way everything is packed in a small space gives me so much anxiety and it makes me want to organize everything.

3) I think I would have to work for my parents and go out and sale things. Get people to come to our booth would be something I feel like a child would do, as well as helping put things up and get stuff down.

4) My favorite photo is the one with the flowers everywhere. This is the one I like only really because even tough everything is crowded together, it has an aesthetically pleasing feel to it. The way that all the different colors blend together and there are a few patches all together makes me happy in a way.

The Dispatch Issue #4 : Writing

Page 2: MoPac Construction

MoPac recently went under construction which has caused many traffic stops and questions coming upon the people of South Austin. The project is supposed to be done early 2021, which costs 53.5 million to do so. One of the reasons for this construction is to get traffic moving faster. One concern to people though, is all of the trees that have been chopped down for this project. The area around MoPac and La Crosse Avenue have changed tremendously over the years and some people say this project is long over due. This has equal pros and cons to it, but we will not know how it will truly affect us until the year 2021.

Page 6: 30 Years of Student Life

Student life at Bowie over the years has changed but still has its roots here. Places around school, like Bush's Chicken, Juiceland, etc. weren't here back in the day. For lunch, students went off campus to go home because nothing was near Bowie. Students 25-30 years ago didn't stress about AP classes, went to bed early and didn't have as much work. If you've seen any 80's movie or 90's, you would remember the basic friend groups, the basketball players, the 'jocks', the cheerleaders, weird nerds, band members, etc. You don't see this as often now because over time, people have grown out their shells and have made friends who do multiple or different things as them.
Who? Students at Bowie
What? Change in students over time
Where? Bowie
When? 30 years ago - Now
Why? To show how student life has developed over the years
How? Getting past Bowie students to share how it was during their time
Who was quoted in the story? Wendy Uzzle, Alejandro Garcia, Ruth Narvaiz.
What quote was the strongest in your opinion and where did that quote appear in the story? " Theres absolutely less free time than there was back then. When there's so many organizations that take up so much homework, there's so much preparation for one thing or another that people barely have time just sit down and have dinner with their families." Alejandro Garcia.  Quote at bottom of the first column of story.
Did the lead sentence make you want to keep reading? Could've been more attention grabbing.
