Self Portrait vs Selfie

A selfie is a photograph taken by you, usually taken with a phone or a webcam (front facing camera), that's usually shared on a type of social media.

A self-portrait is a portrait that a photographer or artist takes of themselves (usually with DSLR cameras or artists paintings)

Even though the two styles have a same concept, one takes more taught and is usually planned out to every detail (self-portrait). The other is mostly taken real quick or not planned at all.

I personally like self-portraits because I really like how creative people can get with every photo and their point of view on things.

I think that both can be more valuable & important because a selfie can hold a lot of value in it with a memory/ time to look back at on. A self-portrait can show importance by seeing what the artist importance is in their life.

Phobia Project

Phobia- an extreme or irrational fear of something.

Somniphobia- Fear of sleep

Thanatophobia- Fear of death or dying

Harpaxophobia- Fear of being robbed

Atychiphobia- Fera of failure

Pyrophobia- Fear or fire

My Project

My first phobia is going to be fear of home because I think many people are scared to go back to a place that may be the worst time of their life, and they wanna burn all the memories. For this I want to get an outside picture of the house and have a dark feeling to it. Or another choice is having the front door open but all the lights off and a figure standing in the doorway. Another option is just the front door in a dark time of day with a spooky feeling to it.

The second phobia is fear of razors. I personally scared to afraid of razors because I think they are very harmful and the things they can do to someone or myself just gives me bad vibes & shivers. My ideas for this is to get angles of my old razors and hang them in uncomfortable ways. I think I want a dark lighting to it, to give it that bad vibes feel.

Last phobia is fear of being alone, which again I have a fear of. My fear for this isn't huge but I don't like the feeing of being alone in public places, at home, or anywhere social because I feel like I'm so vulnerable and anything can happen to me and no one will know where I am. This photo I want to be on my bed with my legs crossed or in a hunched way. My face will most likely be sad or scared of how alone i'm feeling in that moment. I also want this lighting to be kinda dark but make me stand out.

2018

1) The one thing I will remember is our family trip up to Washington D.C & Virginia to see family and explore our capital. It was an amazing trip spending time with family while learning a lot of things about our country.

2) My resolutions for the new year is to study harder and get all A's one six weeks. As for things outside school, I hope to keep up a good workout system and really follow what I love.

3) I'm looking froward to what 2018 has in store for me and how much I change since last year and look back at this year and be happy with myself and choices.

2017 Sports

The biggest sports event of the year for me was definitely the Houston Astros wining the world series championship. It was a major win for Texas and every single Astros fan. It was so big that Houston had a whole day off to celebrate this major win the players took home.

2017 Person of the Year

My person of the year is Demi Lovato. She has been through so much when she was younger and had to grow up at such a young age. This year, she come out with a documentary called "Simply Complicated", which shared her story when her career started till now. Her strength, struggles, and loses, showed me so much of what somebody can go through. Demi is truly a role model and inspiration to look up to.

2017 News Story

The news story of the year goes United Airlines. This story was everywhere and talked about for such a long time. From two girls being barred for wearing leggings to a family being kicked off for not giving up their toddler seat, the main story is disgusting. 69 year old, Dr. David Dao was forcefully dragged off the plane when he refused to give up his seat on an overbooked flight for a crew member. Now, the airline is known for these events and people don't want to fly this airline as much as they did before this.

2017 Best Movie

I choose "Dunkirk" as the movie of 2017 because it showed so much about how it was like being in Dunkirk through WW2. The movie had so much reality to it and made you feel like you were really apart of it. It showed how the citizens of England helped save their soldiers from being killed. While on the beaches of Dunkirk, the troops were continuously being shot an bombed at. The movie has a couple of stories to follow as it was showing everyone's different point of view. This movie truly shows how war really is and the miracle that happened in Dunkirk.

2017 Best Song

This song is my choice for song of the year because it has so much girl power in itself. The main chorus says "One, don't pick up the phone, you know he's only calling cause he's drunk and alone." This line is the start of "steps" of not letting the same guy keep getting to you. As it continues the main part it tells each girl, no! he keeps doing the same thing over & over. Dua  keeps telling herself that she sees the pattern the boy does to her, she doesn't learn from it and that he doesn't love her, so she tells herself the main chorus to herself. The song is called "New Rules" because she has new standards for a guy and new rules that she goes by.

2017 Favorite Photos

This photo shows Taylor Swift preforming at a concert with so much passion while she's singing. I think this is one of the many photographed moments from an artist that's giving it their all with songs during a concert. You can really tell that so much work and effort goes into every show touring.
This picture is so simple but with a beautiful meaning behind it. Boys sleep in an abandoned train in Afghanistan. I think that the fact people have to sleep in a train to be somewhat safe from what is going on in their country is mind blowing. I don't like that peoples houses were completely destroyed for something that is out of their hands.

This is one of my favorite photos because it shows so much all together. The fires in California were such a big thing and many people had to leave their homes. This picture looks like the fire is so close to the houses and it looks like a mom is trying to leave as quickly as possible while also having to say bye to her house.
